Our History
McKean Veterinary Hospital began as a large animal mobile practice in 1998. Within two years, the practice expanded to serve companion animals, too. A beautiful old dairy barn was renovated for the site of this hospital
As the practice continued to grow, the veterinarians in McKean, PA, hired an award-winning architectural firm specializing in this area to design their new building. The 4,700-square-foot building opened its doors in 2013 and meets stringent standards set by the American Animal Hospital Association. The new building boasts:
- Separate Wards for Dogs & Cats
- 5 Exam Rooms
- A Surgical Ward
- Laboratory Space
- A Dental Nook
- Digital Radiography
- Intensive Care & Post-Op Ward
By January 2015, the former building was adapted for use by Carol Redlawsk, owner of Paws for the Good Life. Carol and her staff provide services ranging from home-like boarding to enrichment and exercise. The animals can receive veterinary care from McKean Veterinary Hospital while under “Paws” care.
